J. Hopper Art - Botanical Morphology - Medium Canvas

Original canvas artwork by J. Hopper, an artist who later worked in Tucson, Arizona. Titled Botanical Morphology, the series explores the internal structures of plants, seeds, and organic matter through abstracted forms. Layered contours and gestural markings in charcoal, muted gray, burgundy, and earthy red create imagery reminiscent of botanical specimens, cellular structures, and magnified natural forms.

Each compact composition is anchored by precise horizontal bands and surrounded by an expansive ivory field, creating a deliberate balance between organic movement, geometric structure, and negative space.

Hopper was known for his disciplined, research-driven approach to art and design. His thoughtful methodology is reflected in the works’ analytical treatment of natural forms and carefully controlled compositions.

Created on traditional artist’s canvas stretched over a wooden frame and presented unframed. Each is an individual original, signed and dated 2016 by the artist on the reverse.
