J. Hopper Art - Carpology - Medium Canvas

Original canvas artwork by J. Hopper, an artist who later worked in Tucson, Arizona. Titled Carpology, the series explores the anatomy of fruits, seeds, and botanical pods through abstracted organic forms. Layered contours and gestural markings in charcoal, muted gray, burgundy, and earthy red give each composition an almost anatomical character. Horizontal bands anchor the imagery, while the expansive ivory ground creates a distinctive sense of proportion and negative space.

Hopper was known for his disciplined, research-driven approach to art and design. His thoughtful methodology is reflected in the transformation of botanical structures into carefully balanced studies of repetition, division, and growth.

Created on traditional artist’s canvas stretched over a wooden frame and presented unframed. Each is an individual original, signed and dated 2016 by the artist on the reverse.
