Lois Huntzicker's Reclining Figure Drawing studies the human form with a loose, confident hand, capturing a pose in a handful of gestural lines rather than labored, exacting detail. Working from Montana, Huntzicker builds the figure through economy of line, letting negative space do as much work as the marks themselves to suggest weight and ease. The figure reads as caught mid moment, relaxed and unposed, giving the drawing an intimacy a more tightly rendered study would not have. Set within a wooden frame, the piece stays grounded and unfussy, the warmth of the wood grain playing well against the paper and graphite without competing for attention.
